SRH12 Timken Ring‑Block Friction‑Wear Tester for Lubricant Extreme‑Pressure Performance Test 


  Also referred to as a Timken test rig, this equipment gauges the load‑bearing capability of different lubricants‑including liquid lubricating oils, greases, and solid lubricant films‑under defined lab conditions. It identifies the highest test load a lubricant can sustain before its protective oil film fails. Built to comply with the national standard SH/T0203‑1992 for testing extreme‑pressure properties of greases via Timken apparatus, it assesses specimen friction‑wear behaviour through line‑contact sliding motion.

  Its operating setup works as follows: one component is a standard rotating test ring, while the mating counterpart is a stationary rectangular test block of standard dimensions.
  To assess how much load a lubricant can take, alongside friction‑wear traits of matched friction materials, operators measure the width of linear wear scars left on the stationary block sample at varying load levels. Friction force and coefficient values between the contacting test pieces are also recorded for evaluation.

  This unit assesses lubricant performance under oil‑bath lubrication scenarios. It fits particularly well for simulating anti‑wear performance of mid‑to‑high‑grade automotive gear oils. Besides lubricant tests, it also supports wear‑related research for a wide range of metals, non‑metals, and surface coating materials.

  The machine adopts a frame‑style build. A servo motor manages lever‑type loading, and test parameters can be set in grouped batches. It is simple to run and delivers stable, trustworthy test outputs. Its all‑in‑one mechanical layout houses the PC, control software, industrial control modules and driving actuators within one single frame. It oversees every step of the test workflow, pulls live experimental data, and generates relevant plotted graphs. Operators are free to save, recall, and print out test datasets or plotted curves whenever needed.

OK load value: The heaviest weight placed on the loading lever weight pan that will not trigger scoring or seizure when checking a lubricant’s load‑carrying performance.
Scratch (scoring) load value: The lightest weight added onto the loading lever weight pan that brings on scoring or metal seizure throughout lubricant load‑bearing testing.

Brief test procedure overview:
Warm the test oil sample up to 37.8℃±2.8 ℃ prior to running any tests.
During testing, a rotating steel test ring rubs against a fixed steel test block.
Surface linear speed sits at 123.71 m/min ±0.77 m/min, corresponding to spindle rotational speed of 800 r/min ±5 r/min.

Two key readings must be obtained:
The lightest weight that ruptures the oil film between the spinning ring and stationary block and results in seizure or scoring — this is defined as the scratch (scoring) value.
The maximum weight that keeps the interfacial oil film intact, with no scoring or metal sticking taking place, known as the OK value.
