PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The ST-64B Activated Carbon Sulfur Penetration Capacity Tester complies with GB/T 7702.14 and features a measurement range of 0–10%. This device is developed in accordance with GB/T 7702.14-2008 Test Methods for Coal-based Granular Activated Carbon — Determination of Sulfur Capacity. It is mainly applied to test the sulfur penetration capacity of coal-based granular activated carbon and is also suitable for the penetration capacity detection of other types of activated carbon materials.

Test Principle

The activated carbon sample is burned at a constant high temperature of 1050 ℃ in a purified air stream. All forms of sulfur contained in the sample are decomposed and carried into the electrolytic cell by the flowing air, where the sulfur components react with water to generate sulfurous acid (H₂SO₃). The generated sulfurous acid breaks the original dynamic equilibrium of the iodineiodide ion system inside the electrolytic cell. To restore the equilibrium state, the instrument outputs a precise current to electrolyze potassium iodide solution and regenerate iodine. This testing principle adopts the coulometric titration method specified in GB/T 214-1996. The electric quantity consumed during the equilibrium restoration process corresponds to the sulfur content decomposed from the sample, and the microprocessor accurately calculates and outputs the final sulfur penetration capacity result.
