Product Description

The SH0689 Ultraviolet Fluorescence Sulfur Analyzer adopts the ultraviolet‑fluorescence measuring principle. Complying with ASTM D5453, SH/T 0689‑2000 and other relevant standards, this instrument is designed to measure total sulfur content in crude oil, distillate oil, liquefied petroleum gas, plastics, petrochemical products, food‑grade materials and more. The sample is injected into a high‑temperature cracking furnace for cracking and oxidation reactions. At approximately 1000 °C, the sample is fully gasified and oxidized, whereby sulfur‑containing compounds are quantitatively converted into sulfur dioxide. Carried by carrier gas, the reaction gas passes through a membrane dryer for moisture removal before entering the reaction chamber. Upon irradiation with ultraviolet light of a specific wavelength, sulfur dioxide absorbs radiant energy, promoting electrons to jump to high‑energy orbits. When these electrons fall back to their ground state orbits, surplus energy is released in the form of fluorescence. This sulfur‑specific fluorescence signal is captured by a photomultiplier tube, and its intensity is proportional to the sulfur mass present in the original sample. The signal is amplified by a micro‑current amplifier and processed by the built‑in computer system, converting light intensity into a corresponding electrical signal. The total sulfur content of the sample is then calculated automatically.

Application Scope

Suitable for total‑sulfur determination of gasoline, diesel fuel, lubricating oil, crude oil, distillate oil, liquefied petroleum gas, fuel gas, natural gas, plastics, petrochemical products, food materials, coal and other samples. It satisfies the sulfur‑testing requirements for China National‑V and National‑VI gasoline and diesel.
