The method for determining the vacuum distillation range of wax oil

The method for determining the vacuum distillation range of wax oil

2025-10-31

Wax oil is a high-boiling petroleum product, mainly composed of long-chain alkanes, naphthenes and trace aromatics. It has high viscosity and boiling point, acts as a key raw material for catalytic cracking and lubricating oil production in petroleum refining, and is widely used in industrial lubrication, fuel processing and other fields.

Experimental Purpose

In petrochemical production and scientific research, the vacuum distillation range of wax oil is determined to clarify its evaporation characteristics and boiling point range, providing key data for process optimization, quality control and subsequent processing.

   Experimental Sample: Wax oil

Test Instrument: SH9168B Automatic Vacuum Distillation Tester

Precautions

Confirm power supply (AC220V 50Hz) and ambient conditions meet operational requirements before use; check airtightness of vacuum pump, refrigeration and heating system connections pre-experiment.

Operating Steps

1. Connect all components, power on, preheat, and ensure 7-inch touchscreen functions normally.

2. Calibration Prep: Inspect German-imported Pt100 glass probe (temperature sensor) per manual for data accuracy.

3. Sample Prep: Inject proper amount of wax oil into vacuum distillation flask; install vacuum-jacketed distillation column and thermometer (-2~400℃).

4. Vacuum System Connection: Link 4L/S vacuum pump to instrument via vacuum tube, start pump, monitor vacuum with gauge, and stabilize after meeting requirements.

5. Parameter Setting: Set temperature range (ambient~500℃) on 7-inch touchscreen.

The SH9168B fully automatic vacuum distillation tester complies with ASTM D611
